KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) today announced the appointment of Zainab Ahmad as the new Director-General of Polytechnic and Community College Education Department (DPCCE), effective Jan 5.

MOHE Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said she was confident that Zainab would be able to continue her excellent achievements and contributions to preserve DPCCE status as the leader of the knowledgeable and highly-skilled community at the national and international levels.

“I’m confident that with her vast experience in administration, especially at the DPCCE. She is also the first woman ever appointed as DPCCE director-general,” she said in a statement here today.

Zainab, 58, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the Loughborough University, United Kingdom (1985) and a Master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2002).

She has previously served as the DPCCE deputy director-general (Planning), director of DPCCE Policy and Co-Curricular Development Division and the first director of the Hulu Langat Community College. — The Sundaily
